Overcoming prejudices
The portal Vilnius-Lublin is a public attraction that puts separate external facilities in Vilnius, Lithuania, and Lublin, Poland, in videoconference. For the project's creators, the portal represents an invitation to overcome prejudices and disagreements and connect with one another.

The project
The idea behind the project was to find a way to connect people far apart during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was thus decided to connect Vilnius to Lublin, 600 kilometers apart, to give people the opportunity to travel without moving from their own square. Both portals are equipped with screens and cameras, allowing live images of the two cities and its inhabitants to be broadcast.

The will
The project was carried out by engineers from the Center for Creativity and Innovation, the Linkmenu fabrikas, of the Technical University of Vilnius Gediminas, or Vilnius Tech. The portal is a joint project with the Foundation Benediktas Gylys, the city of Vilnius, the city of Lublin and Crossroads Center for Intercultural Creative Initiatives.

Stargate
Although it is very reminiscent of "Stargate" from the movie of the same name, this avant-garde work does not allow connecting two points in space, but rather on Earth. This project is much more concrete and has been implemented by two European Union countries, Poland and Lithuania, to connect their citizens in real time. You will not be able to cross it, but the design is definitely that of a futuristic portal connecting two worlds, and the idea is also very original.
